  • Cost and revenue management vendor Vibrant Solutions plans to acquire Longitude Systems, a provider of OSS data reconciliation tools. The value of the stock swap was not disclosed. Both companies are privately owned. Parag Sheth, vice president of marketing at Vibrant Solutions said Vibrant has 35 existing customers and Longitude, as of November, was in trials but had no named commercial customers.
  • XACCT Technologies Inc. announced new customers for its network-to-business (N2B) product, which provides a real-time bi-directional link between physical plant equipment and the back office infrastructure. The product gives carriers complete visibility of what's going on in their networks in terms of usage, congestion points and SLAs. Motorola Inc. has OEM'd the product to sell as part of its next generation mobile networks (2.5 and 3G). The Boeing Co. is another new customer, which plans to offer broadband Internet access from all its airplanes. And Bell Canada will use the product for all its BCE companies, internally and for end users.

  • Quallaby Corp. released its PROVISO V3 software for scalable network performance monitoring, proactive service level agreement (SLA) management and on-demand customer reporting.

  • Intec Telecom Systems (formally known as Independent Technology Systems Inc.) introduced the latest version of its Carrier Access Billing System software InterconnecT CABS Carrier Grade. The product tracks system usage to ensure calls terminating on carriers' networks are accurately billed.

  • EarthLink Inc. expanded its plans for Visual Networks Inc.'s IP InSight performance management system. EarthLink will use the product for its high-speed Internet customers.

  • Advanced TelCom Group Inc. launched CallVision Inc.'s Online Billing to its customers. ATG will offer CallVisions I-Statement, an enhanced bill reporting and analysis application that allows users to interact with their bills online.

  • Verizon Advanced Data Inc. selected Spirent plc's CenterOp Sentry fault management platform to support service management across VADI's advanced data network. Spirent already provides Verizon Advanced Data with service assurance solutions for DSL and other data services.

  • Mid America Computer Corp., a billing solutions company, launched its electronic Bill Presentment and Payment Solution.

  • CIMA Telecom Inc. will implement Telution Inc.'s COMX to automate its OSS to manage customer acquisition, service and retention effectively.

  • Sprint Corp. redesigned its web site for local residential customers, making it easier to navigate and adding new billing features so customers can see who they called, dispute charges and download their bills to a spreadsheet, among other things.

  • Convergys Corp. made available a new graphical user interface (GUI) for its ICOMS billing and customer care solution. The GUI has been deployed and beta tested by Galaxy Cablevision.

  • Acterna LLC's centralized test system and services will be deployed nationwide across Allegiance Telecom Inc.'s 32-city network.

  • Telephony @Work launched version 5.0 of its CallCenter @nywhere platform for hosted services, outsourcers and enterprise contact centers.

  • Dorado Software Inc.'s newly available Redcell Registrar is an automated subscriber management system designed to simplify IP address management and lower operating costs by providing a central console from which any network operator can characterize and manage host and user access into the network. Using an embedded Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server, Registrar dynamically allocates and administers IP addresses as required for any size network subscriber base.

  • Telemac Corp. released Telemac ABS technology for advanced data billing and network performance monitoring for network operators, resellers and MVNOs. Telemac ABS locates the intelligence for advanced data billing at the edge of the network, thereby allowing multiple simultaneous transactions, such as: simultaneous uplink/downlink of packet transmissions, and access to enterprise VPN, voice calls, emails and SMS messaging.

  • Lucent Technologies Inc. now offers Kenan Arbor/BP version 10.1 -- a modular, next-generation billing and customer care product with more than 50 new and enhanced features designed to enable service providers to launch next-generation IP and mobile services rapidly. The Arbor/BP incorporates flexible modules and feature packages designed to help service providers capitalize on market changes and opportunities and expand cross-selling opportunities. The product also allows service providers to establish flexible loyalty programs to improve customer communication as well as reward and retain target customers.
