* Intec Telecom Systems plans to purchase ICL, the European-centered IT services arm of Fujitsu Group for $4.1 million. ICL, which offers mediation and interconnect billing products, will focus on consultancy, integration, training and support following close of the deal, which adds 30 new customers to Intec's portfolio including KPN and Vodafone.
In other Intec news, Swisscom North America has begun operations with Intec's InterconnecT billing solution. Based in Washington, D.C., Swisscom NA is a wholly owned subsidiary of Switzerland-based Swisscom AG. As part of a global co-operative agreement signed with Intec, parent company Swisscom AG promotes and supports InterconnecT among its subsidiary companies. Its existing InterconnecT license was extended to its North American operations to settle interconnect agreements with U.S. operators.
* Bell Nexxia, a division of Bell Canada, is making a leap in its billing processes, having selected Amdocs to provide a billing solution for Bell Nexxia's national business customers, while integrating data, voice and wireline services onto a unified billing platform. Previously at Bell Nexxia, the billing process was handled manually using Excel spreadsheets.
* New World Network, the principal owner of the Americas Region Caribbean Optical-ring System (ARCOS), will implement the full suite of NetCracker products, including NetCracker Network Inventory, NetCracker Provisioning and NetCracker Order Management.
* AAPT, one of Australia's three largest telecommunications carriers, and subsidiary of Telecom New Zealand, has selected the Telcordia Next Generation Billing Manager powered by Daleen. PT will use the billing system to support QoS and SLA billing for ATM, frame relay, DSL, IP-VPN, private-line and dial-up. APT will offer access to the billing system to its affiliates, including parent company, Telecom New Zealand.
* Connect-us Communications LLC , an audioconferencing and collaboration services provider, has deployed MetraNet to automate its billing processes and quickly ramp up more than 1,000 new customer accounts, all with distinct billing needs.
* NightFire has joined BEA Systems Inc.'s Star Partner Program. NightFire has embedded BEA WebLogic Server into NightFire Platform to provide communication service providers with a BEA-Ready solution for flow-through provisioning of telecommunication services.
* Tekelec says it has made major enhancements to its Message Generator Traffic Simulator that enable companies to diagnose real-world IP functionality on systems and devices under test. The Tekelec real-time transport protocol (RTP)/real-time transport conferencing protocol (RTCP) and stream control transmission protocol (SCTP) functions allow companies to test broadband multimedia Internet and web-based products and services.
