The creation of a Business Services Planning Council this year by the Cable and Telecommunications Association for Marketing (CTAM) seems to indicate cable companies are getting more serious about targeting the enterprise.
"Our board decided in late 2002 the business is becoming an important new emerging area," says Beth Hampton, vice president of membership marketing at CTAM.
The professional cable marketing society formed the council in January and it was scheduled to hold its first meeting May 15. The first order of business for the council, says Hampton, will be to get operators and suppliers to talk about emerging issues and how to share best practices.
Members of the council include representatives of Cablevision, Charter Business Networks, Comcast Corp., Cox Communications Inc., Mediacom Online and Time Warner Cable.
