Next-Gen Mobile Broadband Drives Strategic Decisions for Operators
In a landscape that has seen the rise of content, applications and devices as having the primary relationship with the customer from a brand perspective, mobile operators looking to architect for the next-generation business model – a model that does not and cannot derive its value from simply providing coverage, capacity and connectivity.
We’re here to help. Specifically, I’ll point to the new V2M Special Report, “Towards the New Intelligent Network," underwritten by Cisco Systems Inc.
We’re not stopping with one Report, however. Don’t miss the follow-on Report, going online on Nov. 8, which will take a deep dive into what strategic decisions need to be made, and what the options are, in order to best implement an intelligent network strategy.
The two reports are part of a nine-month exploration of next-generation mobile broadband strategic considerations, which will consist of a series of premium content pieces offering in-depth coverage of the subject individually and, taken as a group, an unparalleled exploration of the hottest area in the communications service provider world.
Here’s a look at the program, all underwritten by Cisco.
- The first Report is available now and the second Report will go live on Nov. 8. A Report is a deep dive, similar to a report by an analyst, on a particular subject. The Reports will be 10 to 30 pages long and written by V2M Editor-in-Chief Tara Seals. They will be available as downloadable PDFs on V2M. They are free, but readers must register for the download. The registration process is simple.
- The Digital Issue on 4G innovation will be available Nov. 15. A Digital Issue is a magazine-format digital product. Like a Report, a Digital Issue is delivered as a downloadable PDF housed behind a simple registration gate on V2M. Like a Report, a Digital Issue is devoted to single topic. Unlike a Report, a Digital Issue employs both short- and long-format stories and magazine graphics.
- Resident on V2M, an Immersion Center will be published Jan. 11, 2012. The Immersion Center will aggregate relevant V2M content – including journalism, blogs, slide shows and Reports and Digital Issues – around this key topic.
- The “What’s Hot at the Mobile World Congress" will examine critical themes at MWC, Feb. 27-March 1, in Barcelona. It will identify the most important speakers, stories, products and trends for MWC attendees – and for those interested in mobile business who cannot be in Barcelona next winter. The What’s Hot at the Mobile World Congress will be published Jan. 26, 2012, and will run for three months.
- A mobility Onsite case study report will be available Feb. 15, 2012, on V2M. An Onsite takes an in-depth look at a particular mobile operator’s experience in deploying the latest mobile technology and services.
- And finally, a Solution Center will concentrate information about Cisco’s mobility solutions on V2M via a microsite. It will be published March 5 and run for three months.
Under the existing bitpipe, traffic-agnostic model, the cost of carrying mobile data will soon outstrip the revenue flowing in from that traffic – and this "profitability gap" is looming large as operators rush to make further investments in their mobile networks to accommodate escalating bandwidth consumption. Cost optimization and finding sources of new revenue through differentiated offerings thus becomes a requirement. But in order to intelligently react to consumer-consumption trends toward personalization and anywhere, anytime access to communications and applications, carriers need to become content-aware in ways they haven't been able to be in the past.
Don’t miss our strategic mobile broadband integrated content series, and learn how t be prepared for the future.
