Wednesday, we explained why we thought the IBC was important to the world.

Today, I want to explain why IBC is so important to vision2mobile. That explanation begins with four related propositions and a premise that has to do with mobility, video and content. It’s all about the mashed-up consumer – a subscriber with no separation between business, personal and entertainment personae – who will soon reign supreme.

Proposed: Consumers can obtain any information they want, anywhere they want, at anytime they want and on the device they prefer. Technologically, this proposition is a truism; from a business fulfillment and economic perspective, it’s a little bit tougher to put into practice. But this new consumption model has global applicability and relevance.

Proposed: Consumers are mashing digital personae. They no longer divide themselves into three parts, distinct personae separating business communications (email, business applications, full Web access) from the personal (email, personal applications and social media, full Web access) and from entertainment (video, music, art, literature). Technologically, again, this is already a truism. And it goes beyond the “prosumer" phenomenon.

Proposed: Consumers who are mashing digital personae are also mashing content streams. For instance, they no longer consign “video" to an entertainment realm and “data" to a business realm. They mash everything.

Proposed: This anywhere, anytime, anything consumer is a high-margin customer, the sweet spot for all service providers (and app developers and content purveyors). This consumer now reigns supreme. Their reign has just begun, and will last for the foreseeable future.

I don’t think any serious observer would contest these propositions individually, nor argue their close connection to one another. vision2mobile, however, comes at this understanding from a fresh perspective, which is our core premise.

Premise: Video and mobility are now, and will continue to be, the determining dynamic elements shaping this new kingdom. They are transformative individually; combined strategically, they are nothing short of revolutionary.

V2M is committed to this specific revolutionary premise. We are committed to comprehending, mapping and giving voice to the revolution. We are doing that by bringing together the ideas, strategies, plans and voices of the revolutionaries themselves – the community of service providers, app developers and content creators that are the engines of the ecosystem. Finally, we are committed to doing that with premium content – in-depth reports, digital issues, immersion centers and a widening array of digital platforms.

Trust this: v2m will help you understand why the revolution is taking place, what is driving it, and where it is going – and part of that comprehensive effort involves our approach to helping you navigate and comprehend the developments in Amsterdam next month. IBC is one of the key cockpits of revolutionary ferment, and we are on hand to leverage the good and great ideas that come out of this meeting of the minds.
