Intermedia Communications Inc. (www.intermedia.com) rolled out Unified Messaging, a voice recognition-based “find me, follow me’’ service. Intermedia’s Unified Messaging platform relies on the web and telephone to enable customers to build a custom communications portal that retrieves and sends fax, e-mail and telephone messages through any device with the help of a virtual assistant.

Intermedia’s Unified Messaging platform is powered by EffectNet (www.effectnet.com), an e-business service provider that offers wholesale and branded bundled communications services and information management. Intermedia says that in less than 10 minutes, customers can set up the system, which is built around a toll-free “800” number that serves as the user’s personal communications portal.

The service features 32-port conference calling, call blasting to up to four telephone numbers and a customizable web page that allows users to create their own messaging profile.

Cost of the service starts at $19.95 a month for each user.
