Qwest Communications International Inc. (www.qwest.com) is launching several new service packages that combine its broadband network services with Microsoft Corp.’s (www.microsoft.com) MSN Internet Access and content. Prices start at $18.95 a month for dial-up access, and $39.95 to $49.95 a month for DSL-based services.

"Customers will be able to experience the Internet the way it should be experienced - with broadband-specific content that can be tailored to their needs and interests," James A. Smith, Qwest executive vice president of consumer markets, said in a statement. "We're combining the capabilities of Qwest's high-speed network with leading MSN online content and services."

Current Qwest dial-up and DSL customers will be transitioned to the new packages, which will be branded as MSN Internet Access Powered by Qwest or MSN Broadband Powered by Qwest. Qwest.net customers will see added services through the MSN alliance, including additional mailboxes, increased storage for web pages, and web-based access to e-mail.

Qwest’s broadband services are already available to 3.5 million homes and businesses throughout its 14-state territory. And within the next two years, Qwest expects to bring the ability to access its high-speed services to another 2.5 million residential and business customers.
