Internet and hosting infrastructure provider Genuity Inc. has teamed with storage technologies leader EMC Corp. to launch Black Rocket Storage, a suite of solutions for enterprise customers that includes storage devices and management, Internet access services and optional managed web hosting services.
The Black Rocket Storage menu of services includes Remote Data Replication, On-Demand Capacity and Remote Site Failover. Targeted to deliver e-business continuity during planned or unplanned outages, the managed offering places a customer’s transaction data in two data centers and on one or more physically separate EMC Symmetrix Remote Data Facility storage and data mirroring systems. According to Jim Freeze, senior vice president and chief marketing and strategy officer, customers can leverage circuit costs by further utilizing existing Internet access lines to transport data.
“We have taken our years of experience in managed hosting environments and parlayed that into a suite of services that includes data replication over IP,” he said in a statement.
Signifying a series of pre-packaged managed services, Genuity’s “Black Rocket” brand strategy is built on component architecture and service pre-integration. Packages launched over the past 18 months include Black Rocket eBusiness, which pre-integrates managed web hosting, Internet access and managed bandwidth, and Black Rocket Voice, which pre-integrates Internet access, secure virtual private network management and telephony softswitching.
In addition to Remote Data Replication, Black Rocket Storage includes complementary components:
On-Demand Capacity provides automated, event-driven distribution of content across Genuity’s caching infrastructure to support traffic surges.
Remote Site Failover provides a backup operational site for business applications, enabling continued availability of those applications during emergencies, server upgrades and other maintenance.
Hosted Storage offers a range of best-of-breed storage management tools.
