In addition, Cisco added new routers to its Cisco 2600 and Cisco 1700 Series Modular Access Routers and broadband router portfolio, including the Cisco 2691 Modular Access Router; the Cisco 2600XM Modular Access Routers (including the Cisco 2610XM, Cisco 2611XM, Cisco 2620XM, Cisco 2621XM, Cisco 2650XM and 2651XM routers); the Cisco 1760 and 1721 Modular Access Routers; and the Cisco 827H, Cisco SOHO 71, and Cisco SOHO 77H Broadband Routers. Cisco also introduced a 36 port 10/100 EtherSwitch high-density service module (HDSM) for the Cisco 3700 and 3600 Series Routers.

In a related announcement, Cisco today unveiled enhancements to the Cisco 7300, 7400, 7500 and 7600 Series multiservice routing platform for enterprises.

Allowing branch office and remote workers to take advantage of network-enabled applications increases productivity and reduces costs by allowing employees outside of the main office to function as if they were located side-by-side with their headquarters colleagues, according to Cisco.
