Apptix, an operations support systems provider, has entered a three-year services and marketing initiative with Hewlett-Packard to sell a messaging solution tailored for small and medium-sized businesses.

The agreement calls for Apptix to deliver a software and services platform for the HP Exchange on Demand business solution. HP will make the messaging service HP Exchange on Demand, which is a hosted Microsoft Exchange solution, available to service providers and value added resellers.

Exchange on Demand includes e-mail, contacts, calendars and shared folders with add-ons, such as wireless access, storage and desktop services.

HP, which has to date targeted the large enterprise market, is now able to bring its messaging service to smaller businesses through the agreement with Apptix

HP’s service provider partners will have access to Apptix’s Revenue Assurance Services (RAS), a sales and marketing support program, in addition to the technology and infrastructure services necessary to support the messaging services.

That support includes TECOS, Apptix’s proprietary service automation software, delivery and management platform.

Apptix and HP did not disclose any customer wins.
