Cable television and Internet customers in New England who use AT&T Broadband will have to get used to a different name beginning today: Comcast.
Comcast, the No. 1 cable company that acquired AT&T Broadband last year, has formally changed the name of the company that serves the roughly 2 million cable and Internet customers in the region.
Philadelphia-based Comcast makes the name change as it rolls out high-definition TV to customers in Massachusetts and New Hampshire. The cable giant says its HDTV service includes high-definition broadcasts of ABC, NBC, HBO and Showtime.
The company also announced plans to introduce a video on demand service to New England customers over the next several months.
