AT&T and Siebel Systems have formed a strategic alliance that comarket, create and demonstrate e-business solutions using tools from the two companies.

This alliance aims to make it easier for customers to implement Siebel Systems’ eBusiness Applications by leveraging AT&T's networking and application performance management services – including hosting, business continuity and storage services.

Siebel Systems provides a set of industry-specific best practices, CRM applications software, and business processes, enabling corporations to sell to, market to, and serve customers across multiple channels and lines of business.

“The most compelling aspect of this alliance is that it brings together two leaders in the business applications and networking/managed services spaces to design and deliver complete, high performance solutions for companies who are implementing mission critical applications," Rob Rich, executive vice president at consulting firm The Yankee Group, was quoted in an AT&T press release as saying. "Leveraging the strengths of the companies, the combined offering should lower customers’ total cost of ownership, improve application performance and increase customer satisfaction. Finally, the alliance underscores the importance of high performance networking for companies who are deploying mission critical applications across their extended enterprise networks."

AT&T has been working closely with Siebel Systems, analyzing how its software performs over the network. In one of the first joint initiatives under the alliance, AT&T will use its networking expertise to provide a “network optimization analysis” for customers implementing Siebel eBusiness Applications. AT&T will ensure that customers design their networking infrastructure to optimize their network performance for Siebel eBusiness Applications across a globally distributed customer solution. The two companies also will work together to create a center of excellence where they can demonstrate the benefits of end-to-end managed solutions with mission critical applications. Additionally, the companies will collaborate to identify new opportunities that will target customers in strategic business segments.

“AT&T is the first major global communications services provider in Siebel Systems’ alliances program to provide enterprise networking, hosting and application performance solutions,” says Mark Armenante, group vice president, alliances. “AT&T's extensive experience in engineering, developing and deploying large, complex and secure solutions will provide a robust and scaleable infrastructure alternative for our customers. Together, Siebel Systems and AT&T can deliver complete solutions to ensure customer success.”
