BellSouth Corp., the No. 3 local phone company, today unveiled an unlimited local and long-distance package in its nine-state territory, marking a trend among the largest phone companies to market any-distance calling plans to consumers.
Atlanta-based BellSouth has introduced “Unlimited Answers,” a local and long-distance calling plan that costs anywhere from $54.99 to $59.99 within its Southeast footprint. In addition to local and long-distance phone service, customers also can get Cingular Wireless and DSL Internet access on one bill for $138, says spokeswoman Laura Gondolfo. That is the price in Georgia, though prices slightly vary in the BellSouth states, she says.
The regional Bell operating companies and country’s largest long-distance carriers have been unveiling any-distance calling plans over the last several months as the phone giants invade each other’s turf.
