Lucent Technologies Inc. has announced a flurry a new developments related to its voicemail and unified communications AnyPath Messaging System, which now serves more than 8 million users.
The company has integrated VoiceXML into the product to enable Lucent, its service provider customers and third parties to rapidly develop, customize and integrate new applications on the system.
Lucent has introduced a new distributed architecture on AnyPath that allows service providers to realize a tenfold savings in backhaul.
Finally, the company has significantly expanded its capacity on AnyPath. With 5,760 ports, the new system doubles the number of the last version in a system that is 20 percent smaller. It also offers an increase in capacity of up to 60 percent. Up to 1.6 million subscribers can now be support on a single AnyPath complex, which include 20 telephony servers with a backend.
