Competitive service provider Birch Telecom has launched an integrated line of local telephone, long-distance and high-speed Internet access services over its own network.

The BirchLink family of products, targeted at small and mid-sized businesse, is now available throughout several major markets in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. Birch had been selling the service on a limited basis until the full launch this week.

The products are being delivered over Birch's own facilities network. A merger with Ionex Telecom earlier this year helped accelerate the expansion of the network.

BirchLink customers can order a voice-only solution, and add broadband access lines later. They can also easily add lines, change Internet speeds or switch long-distance plans. For a flat, monthly fee, BirchLink includeslocal telephone service and a range of value-added features, including voicemail, caller ID, call forwarding and conferencing, at discounts up to 25 or 35 percent; long-distance rates as low as 3.9 cents per minute, with no monthly or per-call fees; Internet service from 192kbps to a full T1; and up to 100 email boxes, each with 10Mb of storage and free domain registration.

Birch now serves more than 500,000 lines across 12 states.
