Level 3 Communications Inc. on Wednesday announced completing the sale of a network based in the Midwest to CenturyTel Inc. in a deal valued at $17 million.
The Midwest Fiber Optic Network is a system Level 3 received through the acquisition of Genuity Inc. Level 3 CFO Sunit Patel says the geography and architecture of the network did not allow Level 3 to cost-effectively integrate the system.
LightCore, a regional wholesale carrier owned by CenturyTel, says the lit network CenturyTel acquired spans about 1,400 route miles in Arkansas, Illinois and Missouri.
