AT&T Corp. has entered the local residential phone market in Louisiana, and North and South Carolina.
That means the company now offers local residential phone service in 27 states covering 64.8 million households.
AT&T is selling AT&T One Rate USA, the unlimited local and long-distance calling plan, for $54.95 a month in North Carolina and Louisiana; the plan costs $59.95 in South Carolina.
