Phonom, a startup IP telephony service provider, has selected Lucent’s Accelerate VoIP solutions to provide IP voice calls as well as enhanced services to residential customers in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia. The value of the deal was not announced.
The telco sells VoIP service and enhanced features to broadband cable and DSL residential customers.
Phonom is using Lucent’s Accelerate VoIP switching platforms, Web-enabled voice mail and a unifying Web portal that enables consumers to manage phone calls, e-mails, voice mail, calendars, address books and more from any computer or personal digital assistant. The Lucent solutions support the convergence of traditional voice services with multimedia services, including Web-based features.
