AT&T to Offer VoIP in 100 Cities

AT&T Corp. today announced plans to offer Internet-based phone service in 100 large cities by the end of the year.

AT&T, the biggest long-distance phone company, disclosed its residential broadband phone service, “AT&T CallVantage,” will become available beginning next month. AT&T will offer unlimited local and long-distance phone service, international calling and several features.

AT&T Senior Vice President Cathy Martine says AT&T expects to have more than 1 million businesses and consumers using VoIP by the end of 2005.

Separately, AT&T announced expanding DSL to the consumer market in Kansas, Missouri and Pennsylvania. AT&T offers broadband access to homes in 14 states and plans to double that number by the end of March.
