Time Warner Telecom Loss Shrinks on Declining Revenue

Time Warner Telecom Inc. on Monday reported a smaller fourth-quarter loss from the period a year ago, but its revenue declined.

The Littleton, Colo., company posted a fourth-quarter net loss of $21.3 million, compared to a loss of $243.7 million in the quarter a year ago. Time Warner Telecom reported quarterly revenue of $169.4 million, down $5.7 million from the period a year ago.

Time Warner Telecom said data and Internet revenue rose 24 percent due to Ethernet and IP sales. The company also attributed a 3 percent increase in switched services revenue to enterprise sales, but said its revenue decreased by 2 percent for dedicated transport services.

Shares of Telecom Warner Telecom fell today 22 percent on the Nasdaq National Market, trading at $8.51 late this morning.
