Tropos Networks Inc. on Tuesday said New Orleans has chosen the company to supply Wi-Fi equipment as part of its plans to build a citywide wireless video surveillance network.
The city's Wi-Fi network will operate in areas where video cameras are introduced. It will supply network connectivity to video cameras where there is no access to the city’s wired network, San Mateo, Calif.-based Tropos announced. The network also can provide wireless connections to police officers who need access to video surveillance while in the field.
New Orleans-based Verge Wireless Networks, Inc. is the integrator and installer for the wireless network system, says Tropos.
