Greece-based service provider ACISgroup has chosen wireless networking equipment company Proxim Corp. and access solutions supplier Nomadix to install public hotspots for tourists attending this summer’s Olympic Games in Athens. ACISgroup is deploying the Proxim ORiNOCO AP-2500 access points for hotspots at smaller hotels; meanwhile, for larger hotels, the company is combining the new ORiNOCO AP-4000 access points, and AP-600 access points with the Nomadix Universal Subscriber Gateway II and the HotSpot Gateway. The technologies will enhance the security of the wireless connection and are designed to let users roam into the hotspot seamlessly.

ACISgroup also plans to offer VoIP services at its hot spots.
