Calix, a provider of triple play-enabling equipment, is using this week’s Supercomm show in Chicago to further push forward its CalixCompatible program, a solutions assurance program.

The program is a certification process that aims to ensure smooth deployment of multi-vendor solutions, specifically advanced IP-based voice, data and video services. In fact, the Calix already is making a name for itself by partnering with many companies in the telco TV space.

“We have about 40 partners, and not just companies in video,” says Kevin Walsh, vice president of marketing for Calix.

The program provides certification of multivendor systems and requires participants to submit solution elements to the newly built large-scale test facility at Calix headquarters in Petaluma, Calif.

The program includes certified and affiliate levels. Certified partners submit solutions to the CalixCompatible Lab, develop joint test scripts and provide regular system updates. Affiliate partners develop to common standards and work cooperatively in service provider networks.

“These areas, especially IP video, are in the early stages of market development,” Walsh says. “There are some standards, but they are rough around the edges. So this program aims to reduce costs, time to market and risk.”

Some of Calix’s partners include Acterna, Broadstream Communications, CopperCom, GoDigital Networks, Harmonic, Minerva Networks, Myrio Corp., Tut Systems and Westell.
