3Com Corp. says it is releasing new Wi-Fi certified wireless LAN solutions, including a wireless router for business travelers that can support up to 16 concurrent users.
The 54Mbps 802.11g wireless router is equipped with stateful packet inspection firewall and Wi-Fi Protected Access. It is priced at $89.99 and expected to be available this month.
3Com also has announced other new products, including: 54Mbps 802.11g wireless print server; OfficeConnect Wireless 108Mbps PC Card with 3Com’s patented XJACK retractable antenna; and Compact 54Mpbs 802.11g wireless USB adapter.
The print server, which is priced at $120 and is now available, connects a USB 2.0/1.1 printer directly to the network.
The PC card allows users to connect to either an 802.11b or 802.11g network and provides a power-saving feature: the XJACK antenna. As the antenna is clicked back into the computer, the card powers down to conserve power and protect the wireless card from damage, 3Com says. The card, which is priced at $79, is expected to ship late this month.
The USB adapter, which serves as an alternative for people who don’t want to use a PC card for wireless networking, is priced at $59. It also is expected to ship later this month.
