Agilent Technologies Inc. introduced an extension of its NgN Analysis System at Fall VON, to include the H.248/Megaco protocol. The system can now offer a view of signaling across the PSTN and packet networks to service providers.
The system correlates the signaling messages used to set up calls and services in hybrid circuit-switched and VoIP networks, and correlates inputs from multiple NgN Analysis System probes, to enable call and performance analysis. Service providers can thus quickly identify and resolve signaling problems as they test roll out and maintain VoIP networks.
“Signaling in VoIP networks is far more complicated than in traditional circuit-switched networks,” says Girogio Dina, Agilent’s OSS vice president and general manager. “More calls fail because of signaling problems than for any other reason. By providing an end-to-end view of signaling data in a hybrid network, the NgN Analysis System enables service providers to quickly and accurately isolate and resolve call quality and failure issues, thereby enhancing both service quality and revenue return.”
