The future of the SUPERCOMM show after the SUPERCOMM 2005 event slated for June 6-9 in Chicago is in question. USTA, which jointly owns the SUPERCOMM show with the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA), today announced it will discontinue jointly sponsoring SUPERCOMM with TIA following the SUPERCOMM 2005 show.
With the conclusion of SUPERCOMM 2005, USTA and TIA complete a five-year contractual relationship. As the SUPERCOMM name is jointly owned, neither party has unilateral authority to operate a show under the name “SUPERCOMM”. TIA has informed USTA that it does not intend to purchase USTA’s interest in the brand. USTA will not speculate as to whether future shows and exhibitions may be held under the SUPERCOMM name.
In 2006, USTA will instead sponsor an expanded TELECOM ’06 to be held Oct. 7- 11, 2006, at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, in Las Vegas.
TELECOM ’04, which will begin later this week in Las Vegas, has been recognized by Tradeshow Week as one of North America’s “Fastest 50” growing trade shows. TELECOM ’04 will take place Oct. 9 – 13, 2004 at The Venetian Hotel and Convention Center. Attendance increased by 165 percent from 2002 to 2003 and is on track to double again this year. The number of exhibiting companies has also doubled every year since 2001. The 2004 exhibit hall, covering about 40,000 square feet, with 235 exhibitors to date, is roughly 75 percent larger than last year’s show.
This year’s TELECOM ’04 is jointly sponsored by the Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions (ATIS), Legg Mason, Deloitte & Touche, J.D. Power & Associates, and Wiley, Rein & Fielding – and features a National Association of Manufacturers Supplier Forum.
