Viola Networks Inc., a provider of IP network performance assurance and assessment software, has expanded the features of its NetAlly RealTime product with Version 4.1. The company also has announced the solution's availability via Mitel's business partners and VARs.

Features include:

• Better performance monitoring. Service providers, enterprises and integrators can collect and analyze both passive and active statistics from an IP network, allowing VoIP calls to be monitored all the way down to the individual user level. VoIP providers can download an active software agent to the user's desk from a remote site, which then drills down to examine network elements to uncover a problem and repair it. As part of the upgrade, Viola has integrated this capability with Cisco's AVVID architecture.

• More automated troubleshooting. New software capabilities spot problems in VoIP networks and send reports on these problems without any human intervention. The system can pinpoint specifically the source of network degradation because the software is now designed to examine every element and hop along the network.

• Increased user-friendliness. Viola has added new wizards to guide users through the process of network assessment.

• Enhanced interoperability. Viola has enhanced the interoperability of its NetAlly RealTime software to support more VoIP network elements.

"In the past year, Viola has expanded the capabilities of our product; expanded our R&D team to address the growing requirements of the market; and branched out into fast-growing VoIP markets such as the Asia-Pacific region, where we already have several new customers," says John Rooney, president of Viola.
