BT Group plc on Monday announced an agreement to acquire Infonet Services Corp., the U.S.-based provider of communications services to multinational corporations.
BT, the telecommunications carrier based in the United Kingdom, said the $965 million acquisition would bring it 1,800 multinational customers and deepen its presence in North America and the Asia-Pacific region. Infonet has local operations in nearly 70 countries, according to BT.
The acquisition marks a renewed strategy at BT to target the multinational market after its failed global venture with AT&T Corp. -- Concert -- was dismantled three years ago.
