Net Insight, which develops video and data networking equipment, today introduced the Nimbra 340 multiservice access and switching device for service providers at TelcoTV in Orlando. The company plans to make the product available during the first quarter of next year.
The Nimbra 340 is housed in a two-rack unit so it can sit at the customer premises and colocation PoPs. It runs on Net Insight’s SDH/SONET platform and is compatible with the larger Nimbra One multiservice switch for central offices.
Net Insight says services such as Ethernet or ASI can have bandwidth allocated with guaranteed quality of service in increments of 0.5mbps. An automated backplane also provides up to 10gbps switching capacity for access switching of video and advanced data.
