Internet behemoth Yahoo! Inc. and SBC Communications Inc., the nation’s largest broadband provider, are building on a three-year alliance by creating a multimedia platform that will connect subscribers’ Web, wireless and television services. Users will be able to send and check messages, and get personalized entertainment content via their home television and audio systems, Cingular wireless phones, SBC FreedomLink Wi-Fi and SBC Home Networking equipment.

Products that will facilitate the platform will not be available until sometime next year.

"This alliance advances the SBC strategy to evolve the 'digital home' into the 'digital lifestyle'. What you see on your SBC Yahoo! Internet home page is coming to a TV set or wireless phone near you," says Edward E. Whitacre Jr., chairman and CEO of SBC. "Customers want communications that revolve around them, not the other way around.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. SBC owns 60 percent of Cingular.
