Following a spate of similar announcements, SBC Communications Inc. announced today its SBC FreedomLink Wi-Fi service will be available in 144 The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf shops in Arizona, California and Nevada.

SBC expects its Wi-Fi network reach to grow to 20,000 by the end of 2006.

By early 2005, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf customers will be able to use their laptop computers and PDAs to communicate online, surf the Internet and connect to corporate networks.

"We are eager to offer our customers this service," says Lisa Steinkamp, director of marketing for the coffee chain. "This is a natural extension of the comfort zone we've created in our stores and we are thrilled to be partnering with SBC FreedomLink."

FreedomLink memberships are available for $19.95 per month, and provide unlimited access to all SBC Wi-Fi hotspots and discounted rates in roaming locations. Walk-up access costs $3.95 for unlimited access for two hours.
