SYSTIMAX Solutions, a structured cabling systems provider, has launched a product that supports 10 gigabit Ethernet – the SYSTIMAX GigaSPEED X10D Solution. The technology complies with the latest IEEE 802.3an guidelines for 10GBASE-T, the company says, and supports applications including high-resolution video, grid computing and storage area network/network attached storage.
GigaSPEED X10D products include the GigaSPEED 91 Series Cable, available in plenum, non-plenum and low-smoke, zero-halogen versions; a new universal modular patching panel; MGS500 outlets; and GS10E patch cords.
"Data centers are expected to be a huge driving force behind the acceptance of 10 gigabit Ethernet and we expect other institutions, such as banking, medical and movie studios, to be close behind," says Luc Adriaenssens, vice president of research and development and technology for SYSTIMAX Solutions. "Businesses that use high-bandwidth applications, multisite collaboration, streaming media and/or distributed processing technologies are highly likely to be early users of 10 gigabit Ethernet.”
