BellSouth Corp. said today it will start selling its residential communications and entertainment services at Cingular Wireless stores across the Southeast.

"Building on our need to meet our customers on their turf, this new sales channel creates a unique environment where customers can speak to … BellSouth representatives about bundling local, long-distance, Cingular Wireless Services, Internet and DIRECTV service," says Jan Funderburg, president of consumer services for BellSouth. "Selling our services in Cingular's retail stores has been well received and enables us to cultivate a rapport with our customers, while giving them another avenue to purchase the services from BellSouth that meet their specific lifestyle needs."

BellSouth recently rolled out a regional door-to-door sales force, and says working with Cingular will enable the carrier to continue reaching more customers.

"This new BellSouth sales channel is a natural extension of the BellSouth-Cingular relationship," says Steve Sitton, southeast region president for Cingular. "Making BellSouth's portfolio of services available at Cingular stores extends BellSouth's reach into the market while complementing Cingular's service offerings. Now Cingular customers in the BellSouth region can benefit from the largest wireless digital voice and data network in the United States as well as BellSouth's many wireline services. And they can get the convenience and simplicity of one monthly bill."
