Mac users rejoice. Boingo Wireless Inc. said today it has launched a Mac version of its Wi-Fi hotspot access software.
The Boingo Roaming System – made up of more than 12,000 hotspots offered through a number of partners – now accommodates Apple Macintosh OS X users through Mac Boingo. Boingo based its service on Apple’s Airport Wi-Fi application, adding roaming system identification and authentication capabilities.
Mac Boingo signals users when a Boingo hotspot is available. Like its Windows-based hotspot access, Boingo’s Mac version provides a directory of all Boingo locations that updates automatically as new locations become available.
Mac Boingo is available as a free download from the Boingo Web site.
Boingo also announced late last week it has joined forces with Orb Networks Inc., a developer of streaming media software and services, to offer wireless delivery of live television, music, videos, photos and other digital home content.
Orb customers will have access to content from any Internet-enabled device via the Boingo Roaming System.
