SBC Communications Inc. has signed a new contract with billing company Intec Telecom Systems PLC, whose U.S. headquarters is in Atlanta.
The deal calls for SBC companies to provide SBC PremierSERV Network-Based Virtual Private Network using MPLS technology, SBC PremierSERV Dedicated Internet Access, and SBC PremierSERV Data CPE Support Services for Intec’s U.S. locations.
Meanwhile, NTT America Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of NTT Corp., will manage Arcstar Global IP VPN service to support Intec's network across Canada, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
SBC says its services will improve communications among Intec employees, and establish a platform that will support future video applications and VoIP capabilities.
"We were looking for a company that could provide us with a dependable, managed network solution in order to streamline our communications," says Jim Hammar, assistant global IT director for Intec. "Intec's familiarity with the strength of SBC companies' underlying operational support systems was a strong factor in our decision. SBC companies are able to meet our needs with a network that will help to enable video conferencing capabilities among our facilities worldwide."
