BT Infonet, which sells communications services to multinational companies, now includes in its MobileXpress mobile data services the option of Wi-Fi connectivity via Connexion by Boeing in-flight, high-speed Internet service.

Connexion by Boeing typically is offered to individuals for $20 per connection. But the new BT Infonet deal means that the service providers’ existing MobileXpress users can get the in-flight connectivity as part of their existing service – without paying an additional fee.

Greg Hayes, BT Infonet's director of mobile data services, tells Wireless Fidelity that his company is the first global Wi-Fi service providers to integrate Connexion by Boeing into its remote access solution.

BT Infonet’s MobileXpress provides remote network access for mobile workers in more than 140 countries, including secure access at more than 12,000 Wi-Fi hotspots in airports, hotels, public venues – and now airplanes as well. The Connexion by Boeing service is available on flights offered by Lufthansa, Japan Airlines, ANA and Scandinavian Airlines, with additional service planned aboard China Airlines, Korean Airlines, Asiana, Singapore Airlines and El Al.
