Tropos Networks, provider of Wi-Fi mesh networks, has unwired a portion of the Warehouse District of the Big Easy in conjunction with Motorola Inc., SkyTel Corp. and Pronto Networks.
The Tropos MetroMesh network is part of a test project by SkyTel, using Tropos routers to provide access to 802.11 clients. Motorola’s Canopy fixed wireless solution connects the Tropos network to SkyTel’s network operations center, while a Pronto Networks Hotspot Controller provides captive portal services and manages user access.
