Two telecommunications technology companies at odds over patent claims have agreed to settle the lawsuit.
Ciena Corp. and Broadwing Corp. said today they have reached a deal. Broadwing, a maker of optical networks, will pay Ciena, a network technologies company, $35 million for patent infringement. The settlement allows $33 million of Broadwing’s payment to qualify as credit toward the purchase of Ciena equipment and services over the next 3.5 years.
The companies did not disclose other terms of the settlement.
