CompTel/ALTS said today it has named two new members to its board of directors: Cindy Z. Schonhaut, director of federal regulatory affairs for Level 3 Communications, and Scott Widham, president of the carrier group at Broadwing Communications.

Schonhaut has 24 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry. In her current position, she is responsible for the development and advocacy of Level 3’s regulatory and legal positions before federal agencies, including the FCC. She also has held similar roles at ICG Communications and MFS Communications. Schonhaut began her career in telecommunications upon graduation from law school when she joined the FCC as an attorney. She helped implement the Bell System divestiture and served as legal advisor to Commissioner Andrew C. Barrett.

Widham has more than 25 years of international and domestic experience in cable and telecommunications. At Broadwing, Widham manages the company’s relationships with its largest carrier, cable and wireless service provider customers. Prior to joining Broadwing, Widham was the owner and operator of Capital Cable, which subsequently sold to Charter Communications. Widham also served as an executive vice president of Corecomm and was a director at MTV networks.

Schonhaut’s and Widham’s terms expire in October 2005, when CompTel/ALTS will have general elections to select its new board.
