A week after making a similar announcement, Verizon Communications Inc. said yesterday it is co-branding movie downloads with Movielink, an online movie download service.

Verizon Online will offer the service to its consumer broadband subscribers.

Earlier this month, Verizon Communications Inc. announced a long-term affiliation agreement with Starz Entertainment Group LLC that will allow the No. 1 phone company to carry 13 movie channels.

The movie service offers a full library of titles, including a selection of hit films for 99 cents or less from Movielink, Verizon says. Users need a broadband connection download movies, but can view films without being connected to the Internet.

Verizon subscribers are able to store movies on their hard drives for up to 30 days. They can watch a movie as many times as they like in a 24-hour period on a PC, a television connected to the PC or a laptop computer. Thirty days after downloading, movie files are automatically deleted.
