Telecom products developer Tekelec says BellSouth Long Distance Inc. has selected its Tekelec EAGLE 5 Signaling Applications System (SAS) with integrated LNP.
BellSouth Long Distance will use Tekelec's EAGLE 5 SAS to support consumer and small business long-distance traffic. The EAGLE platform incorporates Tekelec's LNP solution, which simplifies number portability by integrating database management and signaling functions directly into the system.
"Tekelec's LNP solution will help control BellSouth's costs as well as improve reliability and support future local number portability complexities," said Hamilton Gray, network vice president of BellSouth Long Distance, in a statement.
Tekelec's EAGLE 5 service platform supports up to 1,500 links and 96 million number portability subscriber records.
