Mpower Deploys First Fixed Wireless Network

Mpower Communications Corp. said today at Interop it has deployed its first fixed wireless broadband network, targeting Las Vegas businesses and supporting a range of voice and data applications.

"We expect to go to market with a complete fixed broadband wireless service offering for Las Vegas businesses in the third quarter of this year,” said Rolla Huff, chairman and CEO of Mpower.

Mpower partnered with Alvarion to roll out the network. Alvarion provided its BreezeACCESS VL Base Station, which operates in the unlicensed 5GHz ISM band. BreezeACCESS VL delivers OFDM non-line-of-sight (NLOS) performance, extended reach of more than 12 miles, high capacity, encryption and more. Mpower also has installed the BreezeACCESS VL series of CPE to provide an always-on IP data connection to customers' locations.
