Overture Networks, a converged packet access platforms supplier, has made a deal with Juniper Networks Inc. to deliver converged packet network solutions through its own ISG product family as well as Juniper’s routing platforms.
As part of the J-Partner Solutions Alliance, Juniper and Overture developed ways for carriers to enable the convergence of legacy voice and data networks onto one packet infrastructure. The companies combined Overture’s pseudo-wire circuit emulation technology and Juniper’s routing platforms, which deliver IP services, to help providers use their infrastructure to deliver voice and data services.
“Because Overture Networks can combine toll-quality voice with data traffic on a single packetized link, and Juniper Networks is able to securely and efficiently route traffic across an IP/MPLS core, carriers gain a cost-efficient means to reduce the number of elements in their network[s],” says Chip Redden, Overture Networks vice president of marketing and product management. “This paves the way for truly converged packet networks with Ethernet services and traditional services that can be extended to any size location, whether fiber- or copper-attached.”
