Alvarion Ltd. today announced the BreezeMAX Si, self-installable, indoor, WiMAX-ready customer premises equipment based on the IEEE 802.16-2004 standard. It uses the IntelPRO/Wireless 5116 broadband interface chip.
The hardware will be ready for customer trials later this year.
BreezeMAX is Alvarion’s WiMAX-ready platform that uses OFDM technology for advanced non-line-of-sight (NLOS) functionality, and enables operators to offer broadband IP data and voice services.
Alvarion says the self-installation feature lets carriers vary their distribution channels to best fit business models.
The BreezeMAX Si includes a six-element beam switching antenna design; OFDM and OFDMA radio technology for improved indoor penetration and NLOS operation; central provisioning and authentication architecture for immediate connectivity at any point of coverage within the BreezeMAX network; and more.
