BellSouth to Launch 6mbps Broadband Service

BellSouth Corp. today at SUPERCOMM announced plans to launch a new high-speed broadband service in the fourth quarter of 2005. The company's new service will deliver residential and business customers downstream connection speeds of up to 6mbps.

The BellSouth FastAccess DSL Xtreme 6.0 will provide residential customers with a fourth option when selecting their FastAccess DSL service. BellSouth's tiered approach to broadband already includes the following speeds:

- FastAccess DSL Xtreme, which allows customers to download, surf and game online at speeds up to 3mbps downstream and 384kbps upstream.

- FastAccess DSL Ultra, for downloading large files, and streaming video and online games at speeds up to 1.5mbps downstream and 256kbps upstream.

- FastAccess DSL Lite, for e-mailing, Web surfing and online banking at speeds up to 256kbps downstream and 128kbps upstream.
