UTStarcom Inc. at SUPERCOMM is demonstrating the new UTStarcom Universal Broadband Server Fiber Node, a line-powered remote IP DSLAM for deployment in Fiber to the Node (FTTN) applications.
According to UTStarcom, the platform enables service providers to deliver triple-play services, including IPTV, to subscribers as far as 35,000 feet from the central office.
UTStarcom added the UBS family of DSLAMs to its portfolio thanks to its acquisition of Pedestal Networks.
"The UBS platform helps better position UTStarcom for success in the North American and international broadband markets by providing an outside plant access solution-a key element for our triple-play portfolio," says Brian Caskey, vice president of international marketing of strategic technology for UTStarcom. "The UBS Fiber Node builds upon our … IPTV infrastructure offering, making it an even more compelling package for carriers planning to deploy IPTV services to their subscribers."
