VeriSign Inc., infrastructure services provider for Internet and telecom networks, at SUPERCOMM announced an agreement with Dobson Cellular Systems Inc., a subsidiary of Dobson Communications Corp.
Under the deal, VeriSign will provide mobile content services such as ringtones, images and games to Dobson’s wireless subsidiaries, which serve 1.6 million customers. VeriSign also will supply Dobson with its SMS and MMS interoperability services so customers using different carriers can interact with one another.
VeriSign further will handle billing and other back-office services for Dobson.
Dobson plans to roll out the new content services in the next 60 days.
