CenturyTel Inc. has completed the acquisition of fiber networks from KMC Telecom Holdings Inc. (KMC) in 16 markets. The deal is valued at $65 million.
The purchase means CenturyTel has added the following markets to its operations: Alabama, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Ohio, Tennessee, Texas and Wisconsin.
"This acquisition helps expand CenturyTel's competitive local exchange carrier operations and advances our strategic goal of growing and diversifying our revenue streams by becoming a leading fiber transport provider near our existing markets," says Glen Post, CenturyTel's chairman and CEO.
