The town council of Herndon, Va., has chosen Verizon Communications Inc. to provide its FiOS TV product to its 22,000 residents for at least 15 years.

FiOS TV offers digital video and music channels, high-definition programming, video-on-demand, an interactive programming guide and more. Subscribers will be able to buy FiOS TV as a standalone service or as part of a bundle.

When Verizon completes its FTTP network in the town later this year, community members also will be able to access FiOS Internet service, which delivers download speeds ranging from 5mbps to 30mbps.

Verizon already has been awarded video franchises in California, Florida and Texas.
