Equipment-maker CopperCom said yesterday it has installed its Converged Switching eXchange (CSX) switch at Border to Border Communications, an independent telephone company in Zapata, Texas.
Border to Border is upgrading to an IP infrastructure and will roll out triple-play services to homes in rural south Texas.
The CopperCom CSX is replacing Border to Border’s 20-year old Class 5 switch. Border to Border is deploying fiber directly to subscriber homes where possible. In more challenging terrain, the company will use wireless local loop technology for access. The CopperCom CSX deploys VoIP services in either scenario.
Border to Border serves approximately 100 ranches and residences in an 850-square-mile area south of Laredo.
